A TRIBUTE TO SUPERMAN

A TRIBUTE TO SUPERMAN

The Man of Steel has been around for 70 years now. Maybe it's that Kryptonian DNA of his, but he sure hides his age well. Of course, it might also be that Superman is always being reinvented for the next generation of fans. From the cartoons of the 1940s that first brought Superman to animated life, to George Reeves donning the suit for the original black and white TV adventures, to Christopher Reeve making us believe a man could truly fly in the 1970's and 80's, the character of the big blue boyscout has been reinvented every few years to be rediscovered by a new generation.

Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher were the ultiamte Lois & Clark of the 1990's. Soon after that, another animated version of our hero flew onto the airwaves, brought to us by the same award winning creative team as Batman: The Animated Series. In the fall of 2001, the WB explored the untold tales of Clark Kent's teen years in Smallville. Then, newcomer Brandon Routh and director Bryan Singer revisted the charm of the Christopher Reeve films in 2006 with Superman Returns. And, of course, there's the comic book medium that Superman originated in, which is kept fresh with new writers and artists taking a crack at writing the legend.

This is my attempt to pay homage to each of these great versions of Superman.
